

With profound sadness, the family of Harriett Joan Brosius announces her passing on September 2, 2026, at the age of 91. She passed away at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX, following a long battle with heart failure. A small memorial service, for family, will be announced in the future.
Harriett was born on February 23rd, 1935 at Ratcliff, Arkansas in Logan County. She was the fifth child of Nellie Maria McIver (née Mathews) and Everette Stewart McIver. When she was a young child, her family relocated to Abbyville, Kansas in Reno County.
After graduating from Abbyville High School, Harriett went on to build an impressive academic background, earning an associate degree from Hutchinson Junior College and a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from Emporia State University. After completing her medical technologist certification at Wesley Hospital, she was accepted into the University of Kansas Medical School. Ultimately, she chose to prioritize raising her family, balancing her deep love for her children with her dedicated work as a Medical Technologist. Harriett built a career as a Medical Technologist, bringing her keen mind, patience, and considerate care to her work. She worked in Kansas and the Los Angeles area of California. She enjoyed her work as a Medical Technologist and took satisfaction in the knowledge that she was helping people.
Harriett had several hobbies, especially later in life, when she volunteered to help prepare meals for seniors, played pickle ball, painted, and played piano. On occasion, she enjoyed birding with her friends.
She is survived by her spouse, Gene Parberry. She is also survived by her three beloved sons and their families: Gregory (Janet), their son Jeffrey (Amy), and their sons Henry, Everett, and George; Grant (Cheri), his daughter Brandy (Anthony John), their daughter Terra, and his son Jesse; and Scott, his daughter Emily (Cody), and their sons Theodore and Aiden.
She is also survived by her siblings, sister Jane Craig and her daughters Piper and Jody (David) and their sons Sam, Stewart (Amy), and Isaac; and brother Douglas, his son Adam and his daughter Katherine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Richard Brosius, her son James and by her siblings Flora Harrison, Cliff McIver, Edward McIver, Richard McIver, and George McIver.
Harriett will be lovingly remembered by her extended family and by the many friends whose lives she touched throughout her 91 years.
