Hector Vela

Hector Vela, 61 years old, of Mercedes, Texas, son of Celia and Francisco Vela of Center Point, Texas, passed away on June 27th, 2026.

He is survived by his brother Francisco Jr. Vela, wife Norma Vela of Kerrville; brother Edward Vela of Kerrville; sister Hilda Hranicky and husband Corey Hranicky of Kerrville; sister Noelda Vela Hernandez and husband Alex Hernandez of San Antonio.

His niece Monica Ochoa and daughter Mila Ochoa of Kerrville; nephew Jonathan Ochoa and wife Monica D. Ochoa and children Natalee and Jade of Kerrville; niece Valisica Lopez and children Avery and Aubrey Garcia of Kerrville; Ricky Vela of Kerrville; niece Nadia Hernandez Gonzales and husband Christopher Gonzales and children Adalina and Alaya of San Antonio; and nephew Fabian Hernandez of San Antonio.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Celia and Francisco Vela, and sister Sylvia Vela.

In the time that mattered the most, he was accompanied by his sweet love, Jolynda Allsup, in his last days of life.

Hector worked for Sysco Foods, delivering, for 35 years and retired and relocated to Mercedes, Texas, for 9 years.

He enjoyed motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and just enjoying life. He was a free-spirited character who had an infectious laugh and made many friends in life. He will be deeply missed by his many friends, family, and all who knew him.

Services are under the guidance of Heavenly Grace Funeral Home & Cemetery, a Dignity Memorial provider. Services are under the direction of Daniel Roberto Gómez, Luis Guzman Ortiz, and Julissa Maldonado.
