

Helen Louise Gonzalez, 78, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 3, 1947, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Guadalupe and Samuel Luera.
Helen spent her childhood in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. She dedicated more than 30 years of her life to education, touching the lives of countless students as a devoted teacher. She had a servant’s heart, a gentle spirit, and a genuine love for helping others learn and grow.
Above all else, Helen was a devoted mother. Her greatest pride in life was raising her two sons, Jon Richard Gonzalez and Mark Brian Gonzalez. She loved them unconditionally, celebrated their accomplishments, stood beside them through every season of life, and treasured every moment they spent together. The love she had for her family was the foundation of everything she did.
Helen was a woman of unwavering faith whose relationship with God guided every aspect of her life. She faced life’s joys and challenges with grace, hope, and an optimistic spirit. No matter the circumstances, she always found the good in people and in every situation. Her kindness, compassion, patience, and warm smile made everyone she met feel loved and valued. She had a remarkable gift for encouraging others and was truly one of the kindest people anyone could ever know.
She found great joy in traveling with her family, creating treasured memories that will be cherished forever. Above all, Helen’s greatest happiness came from spending time with those she loved most. In the final years of her life, nothing brought her more joy than being “Grammy” to her beloved granddaughter, Zoe, and her grandson, Christian. They were the light of her life and filled her days with laughter, love, and purpose.
Helen is survived by her beloved sons, Jon Richard Gonzalez and his wife, Michelle, and Mark Brian Gonzalez and his wife, Lori. She is also lovingly remembered by Benny Gonzalez, with whom she shared many years of marriage and a lifelong bond that brought them back together in friendship and companionship.
She is also survived by her brothers, Sam Luera and his wife, Jill, and Joe Luera; her sister, Patsy Sims and her husband, Ronnie; her sister-in-law, Clorie Torres and her husband, Carlos; her cherished granddaughter, Zoe, and grandson, Christian; and the grandchildren she lovingly welcomed into her family, Alexys, Sabrina, Nadia, April, and Evelyn. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, former students, and colleagues who were blessed by her love and kindness.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Samuel Luera.
Helen leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, compassion, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her gentle heart, positive outlook, and steadfast trust in God will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at 11:00 a.m. All services will be held at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home & Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas. 26873 N.
