Linda was born on September 16, 1951, in Grafton, North Dakota, to Juan Galvan and Maria Rodriguez. She spent most of her life in South Texas, until moving to Wylie, where she built a beautiful legacy centered on faith, family, and love.
Linda dedicated her life to God and her family. She was known for her unwavering faith, kind and encouraging words, and a heart of gold. She will be remembered for the way she made others feel special, her joy in life’s simple moments, the warmth of her hugs, her generosity with her time, and her radiant, beautiful smile.
Linda pursued a career in Early Childhood Education, completing numerous programs and certifications that led her to become a beloved teacher. Even after “retiring,” her passion for nurturing young minds brought her back to the classroom at the Early Learning Academy. She cherished her time with her students—her “babies,” as she lovingly called them—and will be fondly remembered by her coworkers, students, and the many families whose lives she touched.
Linda had rich and meaningful friendships. She loved walking across the street to enjoy a morning cup of coffee with her neighbors or accepting an invitation to go out for lunch and thrifting whenever someone asked. She also had her Saturday morning ritual—coffee mug in hand, she would call a loved one to catch up on the week’s news. Linda made time for the people in her life and showed her love through countless generous acts. She was always ready for an adventure—whether it was a family fishing trip, helping make tamales, walking miles through Disneyland, cruising to Mexico, dressing up for parades, or enjoying scenic drives when fall colors were at their peak along the Blue Ridge Parkway. There you would find Linda, surrounded by those she loved, savoring the blessings of God’s good gifts in her life.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Rogelio Hernandez, and her parents, Juan Galvan and Maria Rodriguez. She is survived by her children: Rosalinda (David) Duby of Lynchburg, Virginia; Roy Hernandez Jr. of Harlingen, Texas; Daniel (Adriana) Hernandez of Camino, California; and Raquel (Antonio) Alvarez of Wylie, Texas. She is also survived by her siblings: Juan Galvan, Francesca Rodriguez, Sylvester Galvan, Estella Arellano, Sylvia Rogers, Janie Galvan, Mary Sosa, and Josie Galvan.
Linda found her greatest joy in being “Grandma,” “Mamo,” “Grams,” and “Gigi.” She was always the first to send a message celebrating her grandchildren’s birthdays, achievements, and milestones. Whether for a theater performance, sporting event, graduation, wedding, baby shower—or simply because she missed them—Linda never hesitated to hop on a plane to be by their side. She is survived by her 15 beloved grandchildren, Cailynn, Austin, Benjamin, Marisol, Isaiah, Cristianna, Isaac, Ashley, Amanda, Alyssa, Arynn, Ava, Arianna, Marcus, Lauren, and 4 precious great grandchildren, Arthur, Isadora, Bastion, and Levi, who will forever carry her love and example in their hearts.
Visitation will begin Friday, November 14, 2025 at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home in La Feria, Texas from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Funeral service will begin Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home in La Feria, Texas with a 10:00 AM chapel service with burial to follow at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas.
Linda’s memory will live on in our hearts and serve as an example of how to love like Jesus and obey His teachings. She will be deeply missed, but we are comforted knowing she is in heaven among family and friends, rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Linda's love of children, a memorial contribution can be sent to The Early Learning Academy, The Cross Church, 100 N First St., Wylie, Texas, 75098
