Jerome was born October 21, 1934 in Home City, KS; at home on the farm, premature and kept in a dresser drawer in front of the Potbelly stove.
Jerome worked for the Kansas Dept. of Transportation 1957-1994, retiring after 34 years. He was in the US Army and served during the Korean Crisis.
Jerome was always a kidder and loved to joke around. He often shared experiences he had growing up on the farm. He loved to travel; as a couple we started with mini tours by car or bus. We traveled to Hawaii, Alaska, Europe; and if you asked him about any of our travels, he could tell you about what we did and when! He was classified as a genius when he was a young boy. He became my computer Guru! He often read newspapers from his hometown, his son’s hometown, and the New York Times. After he started losing his eye sight, he started improvising; for instance he changed the background color and enlarged the fonts on the computer.
Jerome is survived by his loving wife, Paulette; son, Gregory Allen Wassenberg of Salina,KS; stepson, Scott C. Tillotson of St. Charles, MO; favorite niece, Kasey Trippel and many other nieces and nephews throughout the U.S.
A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 @ 4:00 PM in Paradise Park in Harlingen, TX.
