Joan M. Whittle

graduated from Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School for Girls. While attending Monmouth College, she met Charles Whittle and they were married on

September 27, 1958. After years overseas and other parts of Texas, Charles and Joan settled in the Rio Grande Valley where they raised their three daughters. Joan returned to college and graduated with a degree in elementary education in 1971. She taught in Hidalgo while earning her master’s degree. Charles was transferred to Raymondville where he worked as a District Conservationist with the USDA. Joan continued teaching with Raymondville ISD until her retirement in 2010.She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Francis, her sister Dorothy Rucki, and her husband Charles. She is survived by her three daughters: Loreita (Bill) McCormick of Raymondville, Patricia (Ben) Puariea of Houston, and Judith Boling of Harlingen, her grandchildren: William, Ann Marie, and Matthew McCormick, Christopher and Bryan Puariea, Cameron and Jordan Boling, her sister, Elizabeth Donofrio, and her brother, James Caldara.

Services will be held at Heavenly Grace in La Feria, Texas on Saturday September 3, 2016 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Nicholas Peters Custodial Fund at First Community Bank in Harlingen, Texas.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Heavenly Grace Funeral Home and Crematory, a Dignity memorial provider.
