John Gordon Grimes died at Valley Baptist Medical Center on June 11, 2016. He was born in Keokee, Virginia in 1947. Joined the Marine Corp. after high school in 1966 he served with great courage and honor. He received a Purple Heart from the Vietnam War. He was the beloved husband of Elia Grimes a loving father of Michael Grimes and a loving grandfather of Skyler and Aiden Blue Grimes.
He leaves behind 3 brothers Jim (Helen) Hammonds, Bill (Debra) Hammonds, Gary (Mary) Grimes, 4 sisters Martha Cottrell, Shirley (Nathan) Parson, Patricia (Kenny) Reed, Mary (Garland) Smith and 4 loving sisters in laws and 1 brother in law.
John will be greatly missed he was a wonderful provider loyal friend to everyone who knew him and a good Christian man. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Olga Grimes, brother Glen Grimes.
Visitation will be Tuesday June 14, 2016 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday June 15, 2015 at 10:00 am. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Heavenly Grace Funeral Home and Crematory, a Dignity memorial provider.
