

Jack was born on November 27, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to John Pershing Heiner and Gladys Goodrich Heiner.
Jack graduated from Nordhoff High School, Ojai, CA in 1948. He was active in sports and president of his senior class. He graduated from Carleton College, Northfield, MN in 1952. He began wrestling junior year. He majored in Economics. He earned an MBA from DePaul University, Chicago, IL.
After college Jack joined the US Marine Corps in 1953 rising to the rank of Captain. He served active duty three years followed by many years as a reservist. He continued his amateur wrestling career placing in the All-Marine wrestling tournament, an Olympic Qualifying event in 1956.
Jack worked in the financial business in Chicago for over 40 years. He taught finance courses at DePaul University for seven years and mentored many young professionals over the years.
Jack served as chairman of the Metro Chicago YMCA Wrestling program, served as chairman of the Illinois AAU program, was Co-founder of the Midlands Wrestling Tournament at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, helped start the Mayor Daley Wrestling Club, and served as a member of the US Olympic Wrestling Committee.
Jack served as advisor, trustee, and treasurer of the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, TX for several years.
Jack was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed reading history and fishing.
Jack is survived by his two children--Dr. John Heiner (Elizabeth) and Dr. Sarah Heiner (Carl Berger), four grandchildren—Phillip Heiner, Anne (Robert) Berousek, Thomas Heiner (Paola) and Douglas Heiner Smith, two great-grandchildren—Finn Pershing Berousek and Kenji Allen Howard-Heiner.
Jack is also survived by the love of his life and wife of 41 years—Jean Woolridge Heiner.
