It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Jose G Abrego, who went home to be with the Lord on August 7, 2025, at the age of 76. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and cherished memories.
Jose was married to the love of his life, Maria Maricela Abrego, for 53 beautiful years. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, faith, and unconditional love. He treasured every moment with her—whether it was traveling to new places until he was no longer able because of his condition, enjoying quiet walks hand-in-hand, or simply being together in the comfort of their home.
A man of God, Jose was a dedicated member of the Church of Christ, where he faithfully served and encouraged others through his example of kindness, humility, and steadfast faith. His love for the Lord guided his life, and his gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him.
He had a passion for the simple joys of life—cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys, watching a good boxing match, enjoying a round of golf, and spending precious time with his children and grandchildren. His family was his greatest treasure, and he never missed an opportunity to show his love and pride in them.
Jose’s adventurous spirit and love of travel took him to many wonderful places, but his heart was always with his family. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his generosity, his faith, and the way he made those around him feel valued and loved.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Maria Maricela Abrego; his children, Claricia Perez (Ignacio), Esteban Javier Abrego (Elilia), and Gilberto Josue Abrego; his grandchildren, Octavio Zarraga, Carolina Garcia (Kevin), Andrea Zarraga, Sebastian Abrego, and Aileen Abrego; his sisters, Amelia Abrego Ibarra and Sulema Abrego; and a host of dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Services to honor Jose’s life will be held August 21, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 12:00 AM at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park, with a Prayer Service to take place at 7:00 PM.
A Chapel Service will be held for Jose August 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park, with a Burial to follow at 2:00 PM, at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park.
