Maria was born in Linares Nuevo Leon: Mexico, February 18, 1946. She came to the United States at age of 13 with her parents and brother. It was in Weslaco that she was to accompany her brother to dances so he may meet up with his girl. She would then meet her husband Amaro Cepeda and they quickly fell in love, married, and formed their little family in a tiny house. They worked hard to establish themselves in Harlingen and raise their 2 children and have a comfortable life. Maria enjoyed geraniums and roses in her garden. She enjoyed being social with her husband and made sure to have their date nights every weekend for some dancing and socializing. She was dedicated and very in love with her husband and they were inseparable. She was an avid seamstress and very talented in her craft. Friends recall her as kind and generous. Maria was a talker, she could talk your ears off. She will be remembered as a mother who tried her best and worked hard to provide. She will be loved and kept in their memories as mommy.
