She was born in Durango, Mexico and lived most of her life in Chicago where she and her late husband, Jorge, raised their children and built a close knit community of family and friends. They retired to Texas where they lived for over 30 years, spending time with their grandchildren and building a community of friends.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and guiding presence whose strength and kindness shaped all who knew her.
She is survived by her children Carlos (Petra) Guerrero, Ismael Guerrero, Silvia Guerrero, grandchildren Andrea Guerrero, Sofia Guerrero, Elisa Guerrero, Cristina Guerrero, Noelia Guerrero, Natalia Guerrero, Nicco Guerrero, siblings Maria Ines Medina, Isabel Jamaica, Josefina Favela.
Maria most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was a committed member of her church and a member of the Santa Monica Society. She loved cooking in her kitchen, sitting outside to enjoy her garden, and sometimes feeding the neighborhood cats. She’ll be remembered for her resilience and the way she loved and encouraged the people around her.
The family is deeply grateful for the thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time as they honor and remember her life.
