Maria Aida Romero

Maria Aida Romero, age 70, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, February 4, 2016, after a brave battle with cancer. She went peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 27, 1945 in Harlingen, TX.

Aida leaves behind the wonderful memory of her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Ricardo Romero, Jr; her 7 children Diane Lau (Darwin), DeeDee Gomez (Julian), Richard Romero III (Lilly), Lilly Fowler (Matt), Malissa Rodriguez (George), Cesar Romero (Missy) and Jacob Romero (Amy); and also by her sister Margo Trejo Dominguez, her brothers Alfredo Trejo, and Willie Trejo; as well as 33 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Aida was preceded in death by her parents Guillermo Trejo, Jr., and Soledad Trejo, and brother Guillermo Trejo, III.

Aida devoted her life to her family. Her pride was being a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother (Mema) and great-grandmother. She enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in baseball, softball, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, and football games, as well as track and field, swimming, dance recitals, drill team performances, marathons, marching bands, and fishing tournaments.

Visitation will be held at 7pm at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home in La Feria, Texas.

A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 10am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Harlingen, Texas. Interment will follow at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers are her sons Richard, Cesar and Jacob; and her sons-in-law Darwin, Julian, Matt and George.

Arrangements are under the direction of Heavenly Grace Funeral Home and Cemetery a Dignity Memorial provider, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria Texas 78559. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make memorial donations in Aida’s name to the American Cancer Society.
