

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maria Juanita Pena Sauceda, who left us on January 15, 2025, at the age of 75. She was a remarkable woman whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Throughout her life, she demonstrated her steadfast faith and devotion to our Lord, always trusting in his guidance.
Born on April 28, 1949, in Monterrey, Mexico, Juanita grew up in a close-knit family of eight sisters, who instilled in her the values of compassion and resilience. She dedicated her life to her family, always putting her loved ones first and serving as a source of wisdom, principles, and guidance to her children and grandchildren.
Juanita’s warm and honest smile brought comfort to those around her. She will be remembered for her various hobbies, her comforting yet direct words during challenging times, and her ability to find joy in the simplest moments. She created a home filled with love and happiness, cherishing the memories we made together.
In addition to being a devoted mother, Juanita made time to be a strong presence in her children’s activities, providing her organizational skills and support. Her children might say she had a slight OCD streak. She volunteered and supported various causes, showcasing her passion for helping others. Her legacy of kindness will continue to inspire those she touched.
Juanita is preceded in death by her parents Jose G. and Maria Luisa Bernal Pena, and sisters Felicita Pena Rodriguez, Cecilia Pena Ross, and Juanita Pena.
Juanita is survived by her husband, Ignacio Casarez Sauceda; her daughters, Veronica (Belle) Sauceda, Viviana Sauceda, and son Ignacio (Yessenia) Sauceda II; her cherished grandchildren, Leah, Lucia, Ryan, Amylia Sauceda and Caitlin Riojas; her siblings, Maria Candelaria Pena Rios, Maria Christina Pena Garcia, Teresa Pena Alegria, Patricia Pena Estrada, and Rose Pena.
A recitation of the Holy Rosary and a Memorial Service will be begin at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park, 26873 N. White Ranch Rd, La Feria, TX 78559.
A reception will be held at 2:00 pm in the Juan Diego Room at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 412 South "C" St., Harlingen, Texas 78550. Friends and family are invited to share their memories and honor the extraordinary life of a woman who gave so much to so many.
