Melva Marie Worley

Melva Marie Worley, age 82, passed in the early morning of December 28, 2021. Born September 9th, 1939, in Clovis, NM. She was raised by her mother Marie Brewer and her father Lionel Brewer. She married the love of her life Terry Worley on March 8th, 1958. Together, Melva and Terry had two children named Sue Tafoya and Brenda Gomez.

Melva was living in Country Sunshine, Weslaco Texas for the last 17 years. Melva dedicated her life supporting her family and friends in all their wants and needs. Whether it was organizing activities, learning new dances, giving an honest opinion (even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear), or going on adventures… the love for her family and friends was always clear.

Melva was diagnosed with stage three lung cancer in July 2021. She fought a hard battle and never wavered in her attitude to beat it. If cancer could have been beaten by strength, will, humor, love and honesty it would have been a walk in the park.

Melva was well known for her trustworthiness, go getter attitude, and her love for her puppies. She was preceded in death by her husband Terry Worley and daughter Sue Tafoya. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Gomez; son in law Don Gomez; brothers Ray Brewer and Lynn Brewer; granddaughter, Veronica Vasquez; Danielle Vasquez; grandson Jericho Tafoya; niece Donna Brewer; nephews Dustin Brewer, wife Candi, Chris Brewer, Travis Brewer, wife Megan and son Drake; great granddaughter Adaline Vasquez; great grandson, Cameron Vasquez. Additionally, survived by Pat Stiller whom she spent very precious time with.

Melva has left a legacy of unwavering faith, strong character, and high morals. She was dearly loved and will always be missed.
