Mercedes Avalos

Born September 24, 1931 in Pastora, San Luis Potosi to Raymundo and Concepcion Balleza and lived with her husband and children in La Feria and all 10 children graduated from La Feria High School. She was married to Juan Avalos for 62 years and was an amazing woman in all aspects of her life.. All generations of her children saw her as a role model in which she instilled the values of strength, power and love which will always be remembered as a part of her legacy.

This time, this is for you Mercedes, El nombre de padre del hijo y del Espíritu, Santo. Amen.

She is preceded in death by her parents Raymundo Balleza and Concepcion Reyther, her brothers Basilo, Raymundo, and Baltazar her sisters Carmelita and Daria.

Mercedes is survived by her husband Juan Avalos and 10 children: Esperanza Avalos, Juan (Janie) Avalos, Henry Avalos, Fred Avalos, Chris (Armando) Munoz, Lupita (Harvey) Luna, Corrie (Dean) Miller, Art (Rosalinda) Avalos and Raul (Janie) Avalos and Yvette Munoz. She had 21 grandchildren: Rosie Gafford, Erica Chapa, Cynthia Cortez, Ricky Avalos and JD Avalos, Freddy Avalos, Mathew Avalos, Armando Munoz, Joe Manuel Munoz, Christopher Munoz, Yvette Munoz, Jerry Martinez, Jennifer Martinez, April Jones, Tom Gutierrez, Adam Gutierrez, Abigail Gutierrez, Raul Avalos Jr. Raymond Avalos, John M Avalos and Ashley Avalos and 28 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be: Juan Avalos, Enrique Avalos, Alfredo Avalos, Arturo Avalos, Raul Avalos and Harvey Luna.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Heavenly Grace Funeral Home in La Feria TX. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 30th from 1 – 9 pm and rosary at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be held Thursday December 31st at St. Frances Xavier Catholic Church at 10:00 am; Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park on Old 83 in La Feria. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Heavenly Grace Funeral Home.
