Michael Thomas Bloom passed away on May 26, 2023. He was born in Pico Rivera, California on March 1, 1948. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Bloom and Patricia Campbell Bloom and his brother Steve Bloom. He is survived by five children: Jorena Pylant, Kristian Buchanan, Stephen Bloom, Heather Bloom, and Megan Bloom. He was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren: Jeremy and Joshua Winn, Evan Bloom, Ethan Bloom, Lilly Rocha, Joshua Salas, Jake Bloom, Holly Bloom, Shane Bloom, and one great granddaughter, Emily Winn. He moved from California to the Texas hill country as a young man and in 1979 to Rio Hondo to be closer to the ocean to surf again. Among the beaches he has surfed are: Huntington Beach, the Pipeline, Mazatlan, and South Padre Island. During his nearly fifty years in Texas he also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Mike built homes in and around the Harlingen area, many in Treasure Hills. He was loved and will be missed.
