Ofelia Garcia

With a life marked by steady purpose and quiet strength, Ofelia served her community as the first mayor of Progreso, Tx. Her commitment to others also guided her dedication to the health profession, and she carried that same hard-working spirit into many years as a business owner. Throughout every season of life, Ofelia’s kind heart, loyalty, and devotion were evident in the way she showed up for those who depended on her. Grounded in faith and shaped by wisdom earned over time, she leaves a legacy of service, perseverance, and care.

Ofelia is survived by her siblings; Elida Coverston, Ruben Garcia, Linda Schultz, Margarita Ramirez and Benilde Serna.

Ofelia was preceded in death by parents; Hermelinda Trevino and Rafael Garcia, her siblings, Maria Rodriguez, Jose E. Garcia and Otila Dominguez.

Visitation will be held at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, Texas 78559, on July 7, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

A Religious Ceremony will be held at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 109 N Illinois Ave, Weslaco, TX 78596, US, on July 8, 2026, at 10:00 am.
