Olivia was born on November 9, 1938, in Mercedes, Texas to +Jose Maria Rios and +Maria Rita Guzman. Olivia went home to be with our Lord and Savior on September 12, 2026, at the age of 87.
Olivia was a woman of faith; she loved family with all her heart. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, cooking (her tamale making skills were always on point). If asked by her children or friends to help make tamales, she was always ready to do so. Anything she cooked was perfect, whether it was flour tortillas, a simple meal or a large meal. She loved plants and if gifted one, she would nurture it with love and gratitude.
Olivia worked for the La Feria Independent School District in food services, maintenance department and as a bus monitor for special-need students. She retired after 27 years of dedicated service.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Javier (Marie) Vega, Jesus (Criselda) Vega, Raul (Elida) Vega Jr., daughters, Sylvia (Javier) Banda, Selma De Leon, Sonia Vega and Soyla Ybarra. Olivia is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren, sisters, Guadalupe Guerrero, and Dionila Munzler.
Olivia was proceeded in death by her husband and love of her life, +Raul P. Vega, grandsons, +Javier Vega Jr. and +Eleazar Urbina, her father, +Jose Maria Rios, mother, +Maria Rita Guzman, sisters +Genoveva R. De La Rosa, +Esperanza Gonzalez, +Ofilia R. Gonzales, and +Goyita R. Guerrero.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Javier Vega, Jesus Vega, and Raul Vega Jr.
Pallbearers will be Javier Vega III, Jesus Vega Jr., Ismael De Leon Jr., Omar Ybarra Jr., Damian Vega and Raul Vega III.
