Oscar was a man who loved sports from a young age. During his school years, he played football and softball, and as his children grew, he continued his passion by coaching and teaching them the game. In his teenage years, he was also a jockey, and following an accident involving a horse, he carried a distinctive finger loss for the rest of his life—a testament to his resilience and strength.
He dedicated many years of service to the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District (HCISD). Outside of work, Oscar enjoyed watching sports, woodworking, and working as a handyman. He was a proud supporter of the Harlingen Cardinals and remained loyal to his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.
