March 15, 1944 – June 21, 2025
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for his life, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and spiritual shepherd, Reverend Raymundo Urrabazo Silva who entered eternal rest on June 21, 2025, at the age of 81.
Born on March 15, 1944, Rev. Silva dedicated his life to serving God, his family, and his community. A man of unshakable faith, compassion, and humility, he led by example, always with a prayer in his heart and a kind word on his lips. His calling as a minister touched countless lives through decades of preaching the gospel, counseling and simply being present for those in need.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. His greatest joy came from seeing his family grow in love and in faith. He never missed a moment to pray for his children, uplift those around him, and remind everyone that God is always in control as he shared the gospel of redemption and God’s abiding love.
Rev. Silva was a fully ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and a member of the Executive Presbyter Leadership of the Texas Gulf Hispanic District. Pastor Silva served in various capacities within the Assembly of God organization for over 60 years including as Honorary Executive Presbyter and Parliamentarian during the District Council business sessions.
Rev. Silva’s education and training included the following: Pastoral studies at the Instituto Bíblico Magdiel, and Certification / Licenciatura from the Seminario de Superación Teológica. In addition, he received training in chaplaincy from CKMI Seminario de Capellanía where he earned the Maestría en Divinidad and his Doctorado en Capellanía. In addition, he received training and certification provided by the FEMA National Disaster Emergency Management University, particularly on FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Management protocols.
Rev. Silva was a radio announcer with Radio Manantial and Director of the radio program titled “Biblical Reflections”. Rev. Silva also was a coordinator for the Dr. Billy Graham evangelistic crusades as well as for Dr. Luis Palau and Lester Summer. Throughout his career, he also received numerous commendations including the President’s Volunteer Service Award that was bestowed on him from the White House during President Trump’s presidency.
Rev. Silva is survived by his wife, Julie Gonzalez Silva as well as his three children; Ray Silva from Harlingen, Texas; Roberto Silva from Laredo, Texas; Rev. Jeanette Silva de Ponce (Gustavo); his older sister, Maria Olga Vargas (+Manuel); and brother, David Silva (Amelia). Rev. Silva is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren as well as countless cousins, nieces, and nephews. Also left to mourn his passing are the many members of the congregations where he served throughout his ministry that spanned over 60 years. Rev. Silva was preceded in death by his father, Margarito Silva; mother, Magdalena Urrabazo Silva; three sisters, Estela Ramos (Ramiro); Evangelina Valdez; and Esther Ruedas (Eutimio).
On behalf of the Silva family, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to everyone who kept our father and our family in your daily prayers. Your prayers, floral gifts and other acts of kindness have strengthened our daily walk and brought us comfort. Whether you called, sent a card, visited, or consoled our hearts, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. A special thanks to the leadership and pastors from the Texas Gulf Hispanic District and members of the congregations who continually supported us through prayer, heartfelt messages and care.
Rev. Silva’s legacy of faith, love and unwavering devotion to the Lord will continue to live on in all of us who were blessed to know him. We know his legacy lives on in the numerous lives he touched. Though my father will be dearly missed, we each take comfort in the knowledge that he is now in God’s presence, at peace and reunited with loved ones and with our Creator and Redeemer.
We will be celebrating his life with services that will be held at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home and Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas where all services will be held.
