Reta Sydow

September 16, 1934 – June 28, 2026

Our beloved mother, Reta Jane Dennis Sydow, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, at the age of 91, in Harlingen, Texas.

Born on September 16, 1934, in Gainesville, Texas, Reta devoted her life to her family and friends. She was a loving mother, devoted wife, and trusted friend whose warmth, generosity, and kindness touched everyone who knew her.

Reta found great joy in artistic pursuits and will always be remembered for her creativity and craftsmanship in jewelry making. Alongside her husband, Fred Sydow, she co-owned and operated Sydow Jewelry Co. in Rockport, Texas, where together they created beautiful handcrafted jewelry and lasting memories.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Michael Paul McPherson; her daughters, Laura Jane (Phillip) Harrison and Sarah Jane (Martin) Rodriguez; her granddaughters, Ayala (Chris) Janecka, Cleo Jane Rodriguez, and Isabella Jane Rodriguez; her grandsons, Isaiah Felix Rodriguez and Finn Alexander Rodriguez; and her great-granddaughter, Amelia McKay Janecka.

Reta is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband, Fred H. Sydow, Jr.; her parents, Thomas Jefferson ("Jeff") Dennis and Mildred Lucille Dennis; and her infant son, Dennis Charles McPherson.

A Mass celebrating Reta's life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church located at 502 S Canal St. in La Feria, Texas. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate her remarkable life. The family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support shown during this time.

Reta's love, guidance, creativity, and enduring legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
