Roger's presence was so well known by so many because he knew how to make people smile and laugh with such goofy joy. Those who knew him over the years and grew up with him during his early childhood and school years knew he had a love for music and dancing. He became a DJ at a very young age during his high school years and worked at DJs Club and Derek's DJ Club both on Ed Carey in Harlingen, Texas in the late 70s and early 80s. He attended Harlingen High School and graduated with the Class of 1983 and during that time he was involved in both Band and the Flag/Color Guards. After he graduated high school, he moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth, Tx area to continue and pursue his passion for music as a DJ and during that time he worked at a variety of different clubs for more than 25 years promoting their businesses and events.
When he returned back to the Valley, he worked at a variety of customer service jobs here in the Harlingen area, he then took a major role in taking care of Our Beloved Mother before her passing in 2021. He then decided to retire at a very young age to enjoy life and visited the island quite often where he found his sanctuary of peace and serenity.
But if it was anything Our Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Dear Friend was very passionate about, it was his LOVE FOR MUSIC, DANCING AND SPENDING TIME AT THE ISLAND. Those who spent time with him at the island knew he was not afraid to blast his boom box or dance to his favorite music in front of anyone because they knew that was his "Happy Place". He enjoyed meeting a lot of people at the island and those he got to meet really loved him because of his charismatic personality. He loved all sorts of music genres, but one thing he loved..HE LOVED JANET JACKSON. He loved her so much that he went to many of her concerts over the years and all over the United States and loved to post his concert pictures in his unique style of uniforms of Janet Jackson fashion attire, he would post the videos of his experiences at her concert during those times he attended. Roger really enjoyed traveling all over the United States during his lifetime to different cities and states just because he enjoyed the experiences of meeting new people of all walks of life, especially if it was about music and dance.
In closing, we would like to thank all our brother's friends who were there with him all these years from early childhood up until his passing to share those extra memories with him, especially when he would go to the island. He would call them the "PADRE ISLAND POSSE"..you know who you are..SO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR BEAUTIFUL AND CHERISHABLE MEMORIES WITH OUR BELOVED BROTHER, WE ARE FOREVER GRATEFUL TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU.
And lastly, our family would also like to thank each and everyone of you who made a generous donation to Our Beloved Brothers Funeral Arrangements, we greatly appreciate your beautiful and kind gesture of helping us out. I KNOW ROGER THANKS YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF HIS HEART AND WILL THANK YOU IN YOUR DREAMS!
To Our Dear Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Nephew and Dear Friend, we will miss you dearly and will try to honor your precious memory everyday of our lives. So until we meet again Brother, please watch over your family up in Heaven with all those who have passed before you. "SPIN THOSE TURNTABLES IN HEAVEN DISCO DAVID"!
MUCH LOVE FROM THE HAVIER, LOPEZ, RODRIGUEZ AND FRIESLAND FAMILY.
