Senobia Castaneda of Mercedes, born on February 23, 1937, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at the age of 87. She will live on in memory as a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life touched the hearts of many.
Senobia was a woman of deep faith, devoting her life to worshiping the Lord and living with love and grace. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as doing word searches, playing Lotería, and tending to her garden. Her nurturing spirit was felt by all who knew her, and her warmth and kindness will be live on in her family.
She is survived by her children, Omar Castaneda (Marlin) of San Antonio, Nora Dominguez of Mercedes, and Orlando Castaneda of San Antonio. Senobia was also the cherished sister of Sylvia Castaneda and Sara Garza, and a proud grandmother to five beautiful grandchildren- John Dominguez of Mercedes, Texas, Kristen & Alyssa Castaneda of San Antonio, Texas, and Cali and Brianna Penshorn of Austin, Texas. She is reunited in her passing with her parents, Juan and Leonor De La Cerda, her beloved husband Adalberto Castaneda, and her sister Celia Cantu.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life with a visitation held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home in La Feria. A chapel service will follow on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home in La Feria, and burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria.
While Senobia may no longer be with us, her legacy of faith, love, and devotion to her family will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
