Antoinette Sandrella Dircksen was a wonder. Born on June 13th, 1954 to the late Alexander Sandrella and Helen E. Vaughn Sandrella in Louisville, Kentucky, she spent her life devoted to her good friends, her loving family, and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Antoinette graduated from Atherton High School with the class of 1972. After high school, she continued working in her father’s restaurant, Sandy’s, where she met her future husband, Francis (Frank) James Dircksen.
On June 13, 1978, she and Frank were married, and, shortly after, he joined the Navy, thus beginning the great adventure of Navy life. The married pair travelled the United States, having a new child at nearly every station!
Life brought them back full-circle to Kentucky in 2008, where Antoinette found a community at The Kingdom Center. Outside of her dedicated worship, she enjoyed journaling, scrapbooking, and baking, often shipping banana bread across statelines to her family.
Antoinette battled Leukemia bravely before ultimately passing away at the age of seventy-one on January 8th, 2026, her husband by her side.
She is survived by Frank; her children Justin Dircksen, Sarah Campbell (Byron), and Elizabeth Abbs (John); her grandchildren Thylyn Moore, James Abbs, and Benjamin Abbs; her siblings Claudia, Alex (Cathy), Christina, and John (Julie); her lifelong best friends Rhonda and Dorleen; and her dog Trooper. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Belinda.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Antoinette’s memory to the Leukemia Research Foundation and the ASPCA.
