She was born on May 26, 1940 in Brownsboro, Kentucky to the late Henry Jasper and Cleo (Poole) Pierce.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wm J. Gernert Jr.; sons, Wm J. Gernert III and Barry Gernert; brother, John Pierce; and sister, Maxine Whitman.
She is survived by sons Fred Gernert (Crystal) and Pat Gernert (Natalie), 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, sisters, Agnes Marie Allen; brother, Darrel Pierce; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Bettie will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 11:30am-2pm at The John Black Community Center in LaGrange, Kentucky.
