Billy a/ka Barney to me was the most dedicated man to his work, the community and first for most a wonderful husband and father. Mr. Tim Roberts you right he did touch a lot of people because I am proof of your statement. Barney was friends with my father, so needless to say, Barney always kept his eye out for me, kept reminding me the potential I had and always discouraged me for going down the wrong path. Basically the first time I meet Barney, was when he was directing the school traffic and he stopped the traffic when he saw me and told me to meet him at the office. Now, I was scared to death. Things going thru my head is something wrong with the my family, was my dad in a wreck or did I drive in a wrong etc..  Come to find out he was checking in with me and making sure I was okay. Then every since that day we stayed good friends till I left KY. I called him about two years ago at work and let him know what type of young woman I've become and thanked him for everything he did and that if it wasn't for him planting seeds to help me and guide me I don't know where my children and I would be today. What even shocked him more was that I work in criminal justice. I'm so thankful that I was able to tell him how he impacted my life. Barney will always have a piece of my heart with a forgetful smile.

Dorothy, I just heard the news and I am so sorry to hear about your beloved Billy.  I always admired that twinkle he had in his eye for you when he would visit you at school.  I'm praying for peace and comfort for you and your family.  Billy will be missed by so many.  All my love, Jenny

Billy was a great Man met him when i was a bread man in Lagrange we had a lot of laughs he will be missed so sorry to hear prayers will be withyou and your Family

My most hilarious memory at Hermitage involves Billy.  His grin, compassion as a Deputy and overall professionalism are unforgettable.

So sorry. Always had a smile and a wave. For years he was at 383 and 146 directing traffic before school. Every morning my girls and I would wave and get a smile and wave back. He will be  in The OC

It is not very often that you hear only positive things about a person, that would be Billy. When I posted a photo of him on Face Book in memory, I have see many "Oh No, Not that Great man who..." comments. Many knew his face but not the name, again that was Billy. Everything from feeding someone hungry to (ironically) directing traffic for many family's to get to a funeral of a family member. Many lives have been touched and made better by this Great man.

Always looked forward to your visits to OCPD. You will be greatly missed !!!

Billy: family to Jim, classmate to Micki and friend to both. His humor and lightheartedness made his calls to Jim always a treat.  He will always be my Barney Fife, as I could never let it go and he knew it.  You will be missed dearly  by so many and touched everyone you met.
