
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Gary D. Perkinson; children Teri Lyn Campbell (Greg Allgood), Angie Perkinson, Patrick Perkinson (Susan), and Amy Jo Wood (Spencer); 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Louise H. Morris; niece, Shea King (Steven); and nephew, Michael Heilman (Patty). She was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie (Bryant) and Marion Heilman; and brother, Jerry Heilman.
Bonnie was born in La Grange and lived in Oldham County all her life. She graduated from Oldham County High School and started her career at the Kentucky Highway Department (now KYDOT) in Frankfort, then Louisville. She would later work at Jane Clark's "Creative Cottage" where she was treasured by many for her ability to teach knitting and crochet to left-handed students. Later, she worked at Oldham County High School for several years. She eventually retired from PNC Bank~La Grange, after starting as a teller and working her way up to Commercial Loan Officer.
Bonnie was a 61-year member of Rob Morris Chapter No. 114, OES, where she was Organist for many years, and a Past President of the Oldham County Homemakers Association. She always had some sort of handiwork at the ready, loved to read, and enjoyed being outdoors. Bonnie and Gary loved to travel, enjoyed NASCAR racing, and spending time at their farm in Henry County.
A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 2pm at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, La Grange with burial to follow in New Castle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am until the start of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Bonnie requested those who wish, donate to Cedar Lake Lodge or Hosparus.
