

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 4, 1983, Brandi was the daughter of Eugene Leon “Geno” Nelson and Bonita Merritt.
Brandi embodied the true meaning of kindness, compassion, and selflessness. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring daughter, sister, loyal friend, and wonderful neighbor whose warmth touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her life was centered around caring for others, especially children, and she was a passionate advocate for children’s welfare and their right to a safer and brighter future.
Baseball and Softball were among Brandi’s greatest passions throughout her life. Whether coaching, volunteering, refereeing, or cheering from the sidelines, she dedicated countless hours to supporting young athletes and encouraging every child to believe in themselves. Brandi freely gave her time, love, and energy to anyone in need, always answering the call to help without hesitation. Over the last several years, she devoted a lot of her time and energy advocating for several causes in Frankfort with her daughter, Kiera. Meeting with state senators, representatives, and other government officials fighting for education reform, criminal justice reform, and midwifery.
Left to cherish Brandi’s memory are her loving husband, Andrew Dunk; her beautiful children, Kiera, Chloe, Lillian, Connor, and Nora; her father, Geno Nelson; her mother, Bonita Nelson; her sister, Brooke Nelson; her mother-in-law, Joan Eastwick; along with extended family, countless dear friends, and an entire community who will deeply miss her bright spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for others.
A celebration of Brandi’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 706 W. Jefferson Street, LaGrange, Kentucky, with burial to follow at Valley of Rest Cemetery. Memorial visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
In memory of Brandi, memorial donations may be made to the family’s GoFundMe page to assist with final expenses and her children’s futures.
Brandi’s legacy of love, service, compassion, and community will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.
