Born on October 13, 1940, in Clark County, Kentucky, Carl was the son of the late Charles and Beatrice Rison.
Carl was a hardworking man who found joy in the simple things in life. He loved raising his goats, chickens, and pigs, and he was always happiest when he was "piddling" around the house or working on a project. A talented handyman, Carl was known to many of his neighbors as "Pops," always willing to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed him. Most recently, he took great pride in starting a watermelon garden and enjoyed watching his watermelons grow.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ethel Rison; his son, Frankie Rison; and his grandchildren, Frankie Allen Rison, Kevin Blaine Rison, Alexis Naomi Rison, and Baby Angel Edens.
Carl leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Paula Edens (Wayne), Dalles Rison, and Carl "Bernie" Rison; his grandchildren, Robert Rison (Alex), Chad Rison (Leslie), Bridget Payton (Bradley), Cory Edens (Lexi), and Andrew Rison; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 West Jefferson Street, La Grange, Kentucky 40031. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
