He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, a WWII veteran of the US Army, LaGrange American Legion and retired Assistant Farm Manager for Hermitage Farm.
Preceding him in death was his sister: Francis Vance and brother: John Carter.
Survivors include his wife Juanita Tyler Carter; children: David Michael Carter, Sherry Ann Carter and Dr. Daniel William Carter.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2014, at Shiloh United Methodist Church with a reception in the church fellowship hall to follow.
