David J Melton

David dedicated 21 years of service to the Kentucky Department of Corrections before retiring in 2013. Known for his warm heart and infectious smile, David Brought joy to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Born on march 3,1969, David Truly cherished spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was alway willing to lend a helping hand and was deeply devoted to his family.

David was preceded in death by his father, Gary Searcy and his granddaughter, Chelsea Hatfield.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Tracy Melton; his children, Kyle Melton (Dalena), and Kayla Melton; his mother, Mary Jo Searcy (Ron Sweet); his sister, Mary Melton (Charles Clark); his goddaughter, Makayla Abbott; his godson, Charlie Abbott; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many sweet nieces and nephews.

David's legacy of kindness, laughter and love will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A visitation for David will be held Friday, July 25, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 706 W Jefferson St, Lagrange, KY 40031. A Funeral service to celebrate the life of David will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Eighteen Mile Baptist Church, 1615 Overstreet Ln, La Grange, KY 40031 beginning at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the start of the service.
