

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Jackie, Jimmy and Michael, three brothers, Raymond, Wayne, and Alvin Rittenberry and three sisters Helen Dixon, Betty Shawn and Virginia Powell.
At the age of 18, Elmer moved from Tennessee to Detroit, Michigan, where he secured a job at General Motors. Shortly after his employment, he was drafted in the United States Army where he served in Bamberger, Germany. Upon the completion of his military service, he returned to General Motors where he had a successful career and eventually retired after 37 years of service. He then moved back to his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee, built a house on Norris Lake and began his retirement. During the winter months, Elmer would travel to Okeechobee, Florida, where he continued to pursued his love of fishing and where he also met his wife, Betty of almost 25 years. Elmer moved to Kentucky and enjoyed his final years living in LaGrange, Kentucky, along with his loving and devoted wife Betty.
Elmer is survived by his wife Betty and two step-daughters Brenda McKinney (Phil) and Sheila Doyle (Pat), and his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held to celebrate his life and his journey to be with his eternal Father on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Noon at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home in LaGrange, Kentucky. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4-8pm. A private burial will be at Louisville Memorial Garden East, Louisville, Kentucky.
