He was born in Louisville, KY Sept. 23, 1941, to the late Ernest Fletcher Hiser, Sr. and Alma Henry Hiser.
Ernie was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Beverly Ann Hiser.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years Doris Lee Hiser; sister Brenda Williams (Roger); sons, Scott Hiser and Todd Hiser; daughters, Christie Bowles (Billy), Holly Fernandez (Juan) and Dawn Fernandez (Miguel); step-sons Ed Woods (Sandy) and David Woods (Amy Carter); as well as 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Ernie graduated from Butler High School in 1959. He served a four-year apprenticeship with Bricklayers Local Union No. 1 of Kentucky, graduating in 1966. He continued to work in the masonry trade for 22 years.
He graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education in 1998 and worked 20 years teaching masonry for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, retiring in 2004.
Ernie obtained the 32nd Degree - Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret and served as a Past Master of Crescent Hill Lodge No. 820, F&AM.
He loved his family and his Church (Mount Tabor United Methodist Church). He loved being with his family as much as possible, it was his biggest joy.
A funeral service for Ernie will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 10am at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, KY 40031 with burial to follow at Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood, KY. Visitation will be Friday evening at the funeral home from 4-8pm.
