

He was born to the late Samuel Sr. and Ruth Hardin Yates in Pewee Valley, Kentucky on January 28, 1955.
George retired from GE after 40+years, where he worked in every building. He was a lifelong avid UK fan since childhood. George also loved muscle cars and was very proud of his 1968 Chevy Camero that won many car shows.
George had a wonderful faith relationship, first starting at Colonial Terrace Baptist Church where his grandfather, James Hardin, was the pastor. In 2018, George converted his faith to Catholicism through St. Louis Bertrand before becoming a member at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Pewee Valley.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Fletcher.
Left to cherish the memory of George are his wife of 49 years, Mary Yates; children, Gordon Yates (Jennifer) and Toni Millet (Tony); grandchildren, Kristin Hudson, Katie Holt, Dorian Yates, Dawson Mathis, Tristin Millet, and Tatum Millet; brothers, Sam T Yates Jr. (Mary Lou), Mike Yates, Matthew Yates (Pam), and Harold Yates; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held for George at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11am with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. A visitation will be held at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 3-8pm with a prayer service at 7pm.
