We have known Hilda for just a few years . We met her through our church,Covenant Methodist where she attended with her husband and our friend Bob Bowles.
Since they lived in our neighborhood we had opportunities to meet her and Bob in their home. We learned quickly that she was a caring individual and a strong and independent thinking woman. We knew where she stood on most important issues just after a few visits. We realized we had much in common with her and Bob. She loved bridge and wanted so much for Bob to learn. We promised to play all day during the first snow storm that locked us into our own homes. That did not occur as we experienced warm winters for the past few years.
We visited often , sharing food and ideas. She was a wonderful cook and was full of ideas and information. She kindly shared her time with us and always made us feel welcome in her home.
She was a kind and thoughtful person that we grew to respect and depend upon. It was our privilege to know Hilda and to hear her speak of days gone by. She treasured her family and her history as well as the Oldham County history. She was a treasure to us and to our community and county. We will miss her and her wise council about so many things.
