He was a member of LaGrange Christian Church, worked at Wal-Mart for 27 years and volunteered at Oldham County Red Cross.
Survivors include his father: James H. Day; brothers: William E. Day (Debra) and Glenn M. Day; four nephews and a niece.
Sonny was known in the community for his gentle and kind nature. He loved Church, Christmas and Elvis music, and all animals especially horses.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2015, at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home with burial to follow in Valley of Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
