Jim as he preferred to be known, was born in Louisville, Ky to James and Juanita Morris on July 7, 1946. Jim spent the majority of his childhood in Rosing, KY where he graduated from Horse Branch High School before joining the Air Force.
He married Angela House on July 17, 1966, upon which the married couple relocated to an Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. They welcomed their first of three children, Anthony in 1968, followed by Traci 2 years later and Megan 14 years after that. Jim left the Air Force in 1968, returning to Louisville before moving to LaGrange, KY in 1974 to raise his family.
Jim started working for South Central Bell as a telephone repairman, where he would work for 30 years before retiring in 2002. He was also a Boy Scout leader for several years and a member of the Ballardsville Lions Club. He was well known for playing Santa Clause and even bringing Christmas wonder and awe to kids all year long because of his big bushy beard and his rotund physic. Jim was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela; his father, James; and mother, Juanita (nee Hurt).
Jim is survived by his children, Anthony, Traci Jones (Kevin), and Megan; grandsons, Adam Clark (Bre) and Gabe Clark; great-grandson, Sutton Clark; great-granddaughter, Marlo Clark; sisters, Patricia Royal (Frank) and Vickie Young; and many extended family and friends.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 1pm. A time of gathering will be from 11am until the start of the service at Covenant Church, 909 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, KY 40031.
