

He was born to the late Sidney Aaron and Susie Catherine (Symington) Cleveland in Jacksonville, Florida on August 13, 1943.
John was a member of LaGrange Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon since 1969 and sang in the choir. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy stationed on the Saratoga during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Above all John loved being a family man, especially excited to build playhouses and treehouses for his grandchildren who affectionally referred to him as Papa.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Gail Cleveland; sister, Beth Ann Cleveland; and brother, Sidney Aaron Cleveland Jr.
Left to cherish the memory of John are his wife of 61 years, Sharon Gail (Cantrell) Cleveland; daughters, K. Michele Tarter (Shawn) and Keri M. Kebbell (Rob); grandchildren, Aidan Nash, Jack Kebbell, and Ian Kebbell; sister, Susie Hibbard; extended family and friends.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 4pm at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange with visitation from 2pm until the start of the service. Placement will take place in Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made in John's name to the Parkinson's Foundation.
