

He was born on July 19, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky to Kenneth Gene and Geneva Mae (Milburn) Weakly.
John was a lifetime member of Lawton, OK Masonic Lodge 183 before participating locally with the Fortitude Lodge 47. He was an avid hiker, having twice done the Sheltowee Trace Trail. The first time was 319 miles from north to south and the second time he reversed his path for a total of 345 miles.
John was a proud Veteran of the United States Army with 10 years of service, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served as a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne where he was certified as a Jumpmaster. He jumped from a perfectly good aircraft 106 times. John also served as a Drill Sergeant at Fort Still, OK where he met his beautiful wife. His career took them to Alaska where they had many adventures, welcomed their first child, and finished his enlistment.
Following his military retirement, John worked and retired from Kentucky Correctional and Psychiatric Center. Deciding he couldn’t sit still, he then worked and retired from the United States Postal Service. From his careers he made many friends and memories.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Pok Sun "Suzie Q" Weakly; and father, Kenneth Gene Weakly.
Left to cherish the memory of John are his mother, Geneva Mae Weakly; children, Randall Gene Weakly (Kaylei) and Stephanie Mae Weakly; grandchildren, Heath "Hal" Long, Hannah Hoskins and JR Hoskins; honorary grandson, Abel "Wiggles" Crabtree, sisters, Janet Johnston (James) and Vivian Stewart (Howard), extended family and friends.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 2pm at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange with burial to follow at Valley of Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday evening from 4-8pm and Sunday from Noon until the start of the service.
Memorial donations can be made in John's name to Pancreatic Cancer Foundation or Hosparus Health.
