Lena Gayle (Skirvin) Townsend, 71, of LaGrange, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

She was born on April 17, 1949 in Bedford, Kentucky to the late William Vernon and Myrtle Beatrice (Wilson) Skirvin.

Lena was a longtime caregiver and worked as a CNA for Baptist LaGrange. She was a longtime attendee of Pendleton Methodist Church where she and her husband, Jerry, sang in a quartette and taught Sunday School.

She is preceded in death by her sister; Glenetta Westover (Keith) and brother-in-laws; Joe Price, Howard Wade, Arthur Townsend and David Mitchell, sister-in-laws; Barbara Edds, Joyce Townsend, Margaret Gabbard, Ruby Townsend and Patricia Abbott.

Left to cherish the memory of Lena are her husband of 53 years; Jerry Townsend, daughters; Karie Aldridge, Crystal Smallwood (Neil) and Sara Townsend, 8 grandchildren; Jared, Tabitha and Martin Aldridge, Kayla, Joshua and Seth Smallwood, and Ashtyn and Axle Townsend, 3 great-grandchildren, siblings; Rita Townsend (Daniel), Bonnie Wade, William Skirvin (Carol), David Skirvin (Annette) and Kathy Price, brother-in-laws; James Townsend (Sharon), Daniel Townsend (Rita) and Robert Townsend, sister-in-law; Carolyn Mitchell, Delores Ginn (Richard) and Vanita Fogle, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Lena's Life will be held at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 5 pm with visitation from 2pm until the start of the service.

Memorial donations can be made in memory of Mrs. Townsend to WHAS Crusade for Children.
