She was born on November 12, 1928, in Versailles, Kentucky to the late Marion and Lula Brophy Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy Robinson and Ernest Robinson; along with her sisters, Gladys Robinson, Allie Gotherman, Marian Eldridge, Betty Nash, and Jo Ann Finnell.
She met the late William G. Davis after he proudly served with the 82nd Airborne in World War II. They were married on June 17, 1949, in Lexington, Kentucky. Together they had one daughter. They enjoyed family time and annual vacations to Daytona Beach with close family. In later years, she also enjoyed traveling with friends and family.
She began working in the Oldham County Clerk's Office in 1963. After the passing of Oldham County Clerk, Helen S. Bowman, Martha was appointed County Clerk in 1974, retiring in 1996. She loved serving the people of Oldham County with her usual kindness and grace.
She was a devoted member of DeHaven Baptist Church. She was an active, faithful member who lived out her beliefs every day through acts of quiet service, fellowship, and prayer. Her church community was an extended family for her. Her faith was the source of the grace and generosity she extended to everyone she met.
Above all, her love was steady and unconditional for her family. She leaves behind her daughter, Linda and son-in-law, Ed Johnson; grandson, Patrick Linton and his fiancé, Rachel Hudson; step-grandchildren, Hollee, Shay and Bob Johnson; and step-great-grandchildren, Hailee, Camden, and Carder.
She was especially close to her niece, Shirley Daugherty (Pete) and their family, along with many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Springs of Oldham Reserve for their kindness and care. Thank you also to her church friends, whose visits and thoughtful gifts of flowers, treats, and cards brought her so much joy. Thank you to Hosparus of Louisville and for her friend Kay, who visited faithfully each week. She also treasured the many friends she made at the Springs.
A service to celebrate Martha's life and faith will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 1pm at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, KY 40031 with burial to follow in Valley of Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to DeHaven Baptist Church or Good News Homes in LaGrange honoring her lifelong commitment to her faith and community; or to the donor's favorite charity.
