Born May 29, 1929, in Henry County, Kentucky, Mary attended LaGrange High School before she married and began to raise her family. In addition to her own two sons, Mary had five foster children, one of which she raised to adulthood. Not only did Mary embrace the traditional roles of wife and mother, she was also a trailblazer who worked outside the home in a time when it was not the norm. Mary love life, loved to entertain, loved her friends, and above all, loved her family. She had a talent for sewing, quilting, crocheting, and crafting. She was enthusiastic about yard sales, and her yard sales could have been called community events!
Mary was preceded in death by her sons Dan Ferguson and Robert Purcell, and is survived by her son Freddie (Gina) Ferguson of Crestwood, KY. Mary was affectionately called Granny by her numerous grandchildren, and is survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
