She was born to the late Walter Ruben and Josephine Alavine (Gilley) Barnes in Lagrange, Kentucky on December 3, 1956.
Mary loved to bake, her specialties being candy and donuts. She was also a talented seamstress, making blankets, Christmas ornaments, and other crafts. Above all Mary loved being a Nana.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Louis Smith O'Nan Jr. and James Harold Green; brothers, Richard Barnes, Calvin Barnes, and Paul Barnes; and sisters, Emagene Estes and Myrtle Green.
Left to cherish the memory of Mary are her children, Rebecca Whitehead (David), Mary Puckett (Bobby Rison), Louis O'Nan, and Katherine Turner (Andy); 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sisters, Dorothy Whitehead (Donnie) and Joyce Enoch; extended family and friends.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 2pm at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, KY 40031 with burial to follow in Valley of Rest Cemetery in LaGrange. Visitation will be on Friday from 11am until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mary's name to the American Cancer Society.
