Maureen or as I knew her "Mrs. Esper" and I first met in about 1979 when I was a 8 year old just joining Cub Scouts. She and my mom, Chris (Jakubek) were Den Mothers and they became fast friends who's bond outlasted my stint with the scouts. I remember spending many evenings over the Esper house and sometimes getting into trouble with Tim, but the fondest memories were playing those early 1980's video games on their basement TV, just outside of Tim's room with Maureen's dogs anxiously watching us. Even as scouts faded away and us kids drifted apart with passing years, Maureen and my mom remained very close even as their own lives were affected by events around them. They were each others support system and the understanding shoulder to cry on. It is wondrous to consider a chance meeting through a kids activity would be the seed for a nearly 40 year relationship filled with many joyous and a few difficult times would not have been guided by divine intervention for two people that needed each other at that exact moment and for every moment since. Maureen will be missed.

I first met Maureen (and Bill and Tim and Carol) when I moved into the upstairs flat of their Allen Park home. That has to be at least going on 40 yrs ago now, but from the start we hit it off well. In 1985 I packed up and moved to Los Angeles, and Maureen made multiple visits , sometimes with Bill, sometimes on her own and once with Carol. We did lots of fun stuff (some dumb stuff, too!) both in MI and CA , and often enjoyed rehashing some of those memories on our phone chats. I am just one of many people who were lucky enough to have her as a friend, and I know she will be missed by all of us. My sincere condolences to Carol, Tim and all the Esper family.
