

He was born to the late George Wesley and Patricia Ann (Melton) Barnes in Louisville, Kentucky on August 18, 1982.
In his younger years, Nathan loved fishing with his grandfather, Arvil. As he grew he became a talented artist, drawing cartoon characters and flowers the best. Above all, Nathan loved his dog, Blue, and his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Robert and Betty Barnes and George Arvil and Betty Melton.
Left to cherish the memory of Nathan are his children, Nathan Lee Barnes Jr., Ethan Wells, Austin Long, and Chelsea Long; twin sister, Nicole Barnes; siblings, Betsy Jones (Tony Barnes), Adam Barnes, and Marvin Barnes; dog, Blue; extended family, and friends.
A celebration of Nathan's life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 1pm at the Westport Park, 6617 Main St, Westport, KY 40077 in memory of the times he and grandpa fished on the river. If you'd like to cast a line for Nathan, please bring your fishing pole and your favorite stories!
