Bob was born on June 23, 1941 in LaGrange to Harmon and Martha Arvin. He was married to Bonnie Sue Puckett for nearly 49 years. He lost Bonnie to cancer in 2012 and had missed her dearly ever since; they are now reunited in the presence of Jesus.
Bob was an educator and served as Superintendent of Oldham County Schools from 1975 to 1991. He was a champion of students and teachers and worked tirelessly for them. The Arvin Education Center in Buckner is named in his honor.
For all of his career accomplishments and recognitions, the greatest joy of his life was being husband to Bonnie, father to Bobby and Michael, and Paw Paw to Lucas, Chloe, Isabel, Robert and Benny. He loved Little Debbie Honey Buns and Oreos, and would share them with everybody. He loved to travel, and loved to eat at Cracker Barrel - in which he held one share of stock.
Bob was a devoted Christian, he was a member of Phos Community Church, and had also previously served as Administrator for Crestwood Baptist Church while a member there. He served the Lord with all he had.
Left to cherish his memory are two sons; Robert F. (Bobby) Arvin (Jessica of Chatsworth, CA), Michael Arvin (Lisa of Crestwood, KY); and grandchildren Lucas, Chloe, Isabel, Robert and Benny.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, December 22 at DeHaven Baptist Church, where Bob was baptized. A reception and time of visitation will follow from 12 to 5 PM at Phos Community Church.
If you would like to make a donation in honor of Bob, the family requests that donations be made in his name to Phos Community Church.
