A proud Marine veteran, Roland served in WWII on the Pacific Front, obtaining the rank of Corporal before being honorably discharged on February 12, 1946. Following his military service he worked as an engineer for Ford Motor Company for 32 years.
He was preceded in death by his daughter: Constance Martin-Lanham.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Mary Jane Martin; son: William Martin; sister: Rose Martin; grandchildren: Patrick Martin and Andrew Martin (Michelle Quire); a close friend and former caregiver: Cheryl Cornellio; daughter in law: Debra Martin along with Ray Cook who cared for Roland in his final months.
Roland will be remembered for his diligent service to his country, His self-taught craftsmanship, and most of all for his generosity and unyielding love for his family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home. Visitation at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until service time.
