Shaleen meant the world to me.  She felt like family.  My father introduced us at her office.  He thought she hung the moon.  Which, really, she did.  I trusted her like no other professional.  Even if her advice felt uncomfortable, I would follow it.  When I bought a truck recently and forget to tell her my plans, she was so sweet and patient and told me "We are not going to pay interest on this, let me figure out what to do. " I'm guessing she wanted to holler at me but instead made me feel everything would be ok. She was always respectful and patient with me.
I wish I had known in time to attend her funeral.

Shaleen was my parent financial advisor for decades. When my dad passed in 2017, she became a trusted friend and advisor. I cried when I saw she was gone. I never met her in real life but she was smart, friendly and kind to my family. Rest in peace, my friend.

We are heartbroken by the loss of Shaleen Newton. Shaleen has been our financial adviser for over 20 years, but she was much more than that. Shaleen was our friend. She would stay late when I was still working to make sure that everything we needed for our retirement was taken care of. She would call us often to give us updates and then she, Lillilu and I would be on the phone talking for over an hour about our lives, health and anything else that would come up. It was always a good time to be with her, Larry, LC and Abby at the Louisville Bats games. She and I would actually "watch" the games! Larry, LC, and Abby please know that you all will forever be in our thoughts and prayers. God has indeed taken another beautiful angel to come home to Him.

My sincere condolences to the family.  This wonderful lady has guided my wife and I to be financially stable and be able to retire confidently. Shaleen was way more than a financial advisor. She was a friend and always made sure we were comfortable with our decisions. She would stay late at work just to meet our work schedule. I don’t ever remember a meeting where she didn’t share stories about her family 
and U of L athletics.  My wife and I will forever remember her smile and her laugh and hard work ethic and talent. There is not enough room here to say all the wonderful things that can be said about Shaleen. Rest in peace I hope someday we meet again in heaven.

I am heartbroken to hear this news about Shaleen. She was my parents’ advisor when she was at Olde and they stayed with her at HR Block and then Ameriprise and she handled my Ameriprise accounts as well. I always enjoyed talking to her and was thankful for the friendship she had with my dad. She always had an eye out for his well-being. We send our condolences to her family and friends.

I am so very, very sorry. I only knew Shaleen from our financial phone conversations, but her goodness and kindness were apparent, and will always be remembered. Shaleen was my colleague for 16 years at Ameriprise/HR Block.  She was also my personal advisor but mostly she was my friend.  She has helped me so much navigating finances after my husband passed in 2020, unexpectedly and too soon, just like Shaleen.  Shaleen was so awesome, so caring and fun to be around.  She had a great smile that spread across her whole face and just let you know it'd be ok.  She was a great sounding board for me, sometimes venting about work and sometimes venting about things at home; offering sound advice when needed. When my son was struggling at Georgetown, being away from home, she showed up at his dorm with snacks and LC to hook up his game system when we couldn't figure it out.  Larry told me that the doctor said she had an enlarged heart, but I prefer to think that just means her heart was too big for this old world and God felt He needed it more.  All my prayers for Larry, LC and Abby, to keep her memories close and appreciate each other and the family you have all the more. Shaleen was a special person.  i worked with her for six years and about a year before I retired,  I partnered with her while transitioning our to the investment/financial advisory business.  Her honest character and professional competence allowed me to hand my clients off to her with the confidence they would be well cared for.

Her sudden death is a shock to all of us, but also serves as a reminder of how short this life is, and how important the decisions we  make each day are.  My sincere condolences to Larry and the entire family.

I first met Shaleen interviewing her on the Bellarmine campus. I remember reviewing her resume and thinking.."This woman is too smart to be a stockbroker" and thought it would be a quick interview.  I'll never forget the freight train of positivity and confidence Shaleen was and anyone who knew her knows she would have been successful in any path she chose. 

I kept up with her through LinkedIn and always loved seeing her continued success through her posts.  Always made me think of that first interview where you just knew.

This is a huge loss and I am thinking of Larry, the family and everyone else whos life she touched. My condolences to all. I am so sorry.

So very saddened by this. I was Shaleen’s English teach at Holy Rosary, and she was not only smart and talented, but most importantly she was always so kind and authentic. I was privileged to cross paths with Shaleen again at SHA.  I pray for all of you who are mourning, especially her husband, children, parents and siblings. May your cherished memories bring you comfort and God’s grace strengthen you in this difficult time.
