

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, on January 17, 1974, Shaleen was a bright light from the start. She attended St. Athanasius School and graduated as Salutatorian from Holy Rosary Academy. Her love of learning continued at Bellarmine College, where she graduated summa cum laude.
During her college years, Shaleen found joy in fishing and camping. She was active in sports throughout her youth, playing basketball in grade school and field hockey in high school. A natural performer, she also participated in drama class and developed a lifelong love of theatre and the arts.
Shaleen loved traveling, especially to the beach, and was a dedicated volleyball mom. She even played in an adult volleyball league herself. A proud and devoted U of L fan, Shaleen was once taught to throw a football by none other than Teddy Bridgewater.
Above all, Shaleen cherished time with her family. She loved family game nights, board games, puzzles, and shopping.
She was preceded in death by her beloved in-laws, Mary Anne and Jay Kilner, and Lawrence C. Newton Sr.
Left to honor and cherish her memory are her loving husband, Larry Newton, her children, Abby Newton and L.C. Newton; her parents, Peggy and Donald; her siblings, Erin (Dennis), Beth, Mark, Joe, and Ginny (Jeremy); her sisters- and brothers-in-law, Marguerite (David), Lisa Heady (Rick), Dana (Pete), Valerie (Ken), Jay Jr. (Toni), Todd (Kelly), and Kevin (Tammy); as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Sunday, August 24 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a Prayer service starting at 6 PM at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 West Jefferson Street, LaGrange, KY. A Funeral Mass for Shaleen will be held Monday, August 25 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 502 N. 5th Avenue, LaGrange, KY, with Burial to follow at Valley of Rest Cemetery in LaGrange.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Shaleen's memory to Dare to Care or Volunteers of America Mid-States.
Shaleen's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
