She was born to the late Miller Roy and Flora Emily (Warinner) McKinley on March 10, 1939 in Nora, Kentucky and was a member of Ashland Community Church where she served frequently on committees and taught Sunday School. She graduated from Campbellsville College with a degree in accounting before starting her career as a Certified Public Accountant. Shirley was the sole proprietor of her CPA firm in LaGrange for the better part of 40 years. A true lover of nature, few could match her remarkable ability to identify flowers, trees and birds with such precision and passion.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Bertrand "Bert" Andrew Schureck Jr., and foster grandson; Alex Dobbs.
Left to cherish the memory of Shirley are her children; Carol Petitt (Edward "Otto" Pernotto) and Todd Andrew Schureck (Alison), foster children; Kevin Parrish and Christian Madrid, 11 grandchildren; John "Jack", Katherine and Sarah Petitt, Elise and Tabor Schureck, Walter, Patrick, Grace and Lillian Parrish, Isabelle and Victoria Dobbs, siblings; Charles Russell McKinley and Marilyn McKinley, siblings-in-law; Mary Ann Prather, Randolph Schureck (JoAnne) and Patricia Risinger (Eric), extended family and friends.
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange KY on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 11:30am with burial to follow at the Kentucky Veteran Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY. Visitation will be from 9:30am until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Shirley's name to Ashland Community Church or Louisville Emmaus Community.
