Teresa "Terri" Justine Tackett

Teresa Justine “Terri” Tackett, 73, died peacefully on August 6, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was small in stature, fierce in spirit, and had a tremendous heart. Family came first—always. For 40 years, she and her husband, Jimmy, shared a life in which decisions were made together, adventures were shared, and one was rarely found very far from the other.

Terri was born on April 6, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky, to William and Doris Morgan. She attended Butler High School. She worked as an office manager for Roland Bryant in Louisville. Later in life, she began a second career in real estate, working as an agent with Semonin Realtors in Louisville.

Terri and Jimmy met on a blind date in 1984, though it took a bit of persistence from Terri’s best friend, Pam Skinner, to finally get them together. It worked. Terri and Jimmy were married on April 26, 1986, and this year they celebrated 40 years of marriage.

Terri loved being Mom, Nana, and Gigi. Her family was defined not by blood or labels but by love. She welcomed those who entered her life and loved them as her own. If Terri considered you family, you were family.

She was also a woman who was rarely still. Terri loved flowers and filled her gardens with them, favoring colorful mixed wildflowers over anything formal. She tended a vegetable garden, fed the birds and deer, and especially loved hummingbirds. She enjoyed painting and swimming in her pool. Over the years, she and Jimmy fished, golfed, and traveled often, including cruises, but her favorite place was wherever Jimmy was—and most often that was home in the country.

Terri showed her love in practical ways, especially through food. She loved cooking and feeding people, and holiday dinners were important to her. She liked shrimp, a burnt hot dog, and for years had a soft spot for Snickers. When everyone else was ready to sit back after dinner, Terri was usually already up cleaning. She was busy—always.

Somewhere along the way, Terri also became a UK fan by marriage. After 40 years with Jimmy, she could bleed blue with the best of them.

Terri is survived by her husband, Jimmy Tackett; her daughter, Nikki Tackett-Gosney (Don); her grandchildren, Bri Mann (Connor), Emily Gosney, Logan Bronke, Hunter Bronke, and Katie Gosney; her great-grandchildren, River and Weston Mann; her sister, Brenda Gonzalez (Willie); her brother, Brian Morgan (Betty); her best friend’s daughter, Jamie Laramore; her many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who loved her dearly; and her beloved dog, Zoey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Doris Morgan, and by her best friend since high school, Pam Skinner.

Terri had a special gift for making people feel they belonged. She cared deeply and gave freely of herself. Jimmy, her partner in everything for 40 years, said it best and most simply: “She was my rock.”

Visitation will be held at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 West Jefferson Street, La Grange, Kentucky, on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Family visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by public visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of Terri’s life will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Flowers are welcome, especially mixed wildflowers in Terri’s spirit. Memorial contributions may also be made to the WHAS Crusade for Children.
